Logistics Label Dies

Logistics label dies are made for shipping, pallet and warehouse identification labels where clean cutting and repeatable register matter. We supply rotary solid dies, flexible magnetic dies and magnetic cylinders to suit short runs, repeat work and tighter production schedules.

Logistics Label Dies

Built for shipping, pallet and warehouse label work

Logistics label dies are used on labels that must be cut cleanly and consistently for cartons, pallets, shelves, barcodes and handling instructions. In a busy converting line, the die has to keep up with adhesive stock, facestock changes and fast turnaround work without leaving ragged edges or an uneven trim.

At our Wadeville, Germiston workshop we make dies to order for South African label printers and converters. That includes repeat orders where the artwork stays the same but the stock or press setup changes. We work to fine tolerances because even a small error can affect stripping, matrix removal and final label presentation.

  • Shipping and dispatch labels
  • Pallet identification and warehouse labels
  • Stacking, routing and barcode labels
  • Handling and compliance labels

Rotary solid dies, magnetic dies and cylinders

The right tooling depends on your press, run length and material. Rotary solid dies suit higher volume work and long production runs where durability is important. Flexible magnetic dies are a practical choice for many label converters because they are easier to handle, quicker to change and well suited to mixed jobs. Magnetic cylinders are used where the press setup calls for a matching cylinder solution and accurate repeat control.

We can assist with die design, CAD proofing, repeat matching and bearer setting before anything goes into production. That helps keep the cut size true to the artwork and reduces the risk of waste on the press. If you are switching between different logistics label sizes, we can also advise on a sensible set of standard tooling so you are not ordering a new die for every small variation.

  • Single up or multi up layouts
  • Plain, rounded corner or shaped labels
  • Perforations, kiss cuts and full cuts
  • Matched tooling for repeat jobs

Common sizes and finish options

Logistics labels are often supplied in practical sizes that suit dispatch, picking and pallet identification. Common formats include 50 x 25 mm, 63 x 38 mm, 100 x 50 mm and 100 x 100 mm, but we also make non standard shapes and custom repeats to suit your stock width and finished label count. If your line is running a narrow web, we can work within the available web width and advise on layout to reduce offcut waste.

Finish details matter on these labels because many of them are scanned, handled frequently or applied in less than ideal conditions. Clean corners, accurate radii and consistent cut depth help the label release properly from the matrix and sit neatly on the carton or pallet. If you need a removable format, a heavy duty adhesive or a special corner shape for easy peeling, that can be built into the die specification.

  • Custom widths and heights to suit your stock
  • Sharp or radiused corners
  • Perforation options for easy tear off
  • Matrix friendly cutting for faster stripping

Where these dies suit South African operations

These dies suit label printers and converters supplying warehouses, distribution centres, manufacturers and dispatch teams across Johannesburg, Germiston, Pretoria, Durban, Pinetown, Cape Town, Bellville and Gqeberha. They are useful where labels move through packing lines, forklift routes and loading bays and must stay legible through handling and transport.

We see a lot of work for logistics labels in environments with dust, temperature swings and high throughput. In coastal areas, humidity can affect stock handling and adhesive behaviour, while inland plants may deal with dry conditions and heavy static. A well matched die helps the converting side stay stable despite those variables, which matters when the client wants accurate counts and consistent label shape from one batch to the next.

  • Manufacturing and dispatch departments
  • Retail supply chains and pallet marking
  • Barcode and route identification work

Installation, power and press setup

These dies are installed on compatible rotary or magnetic tooling systems. No power or gas is needed for the die itself, although the press line, drying process or finishing equipment may have its own requirements. The important part is correct mounting, alignment and bearer setting so the cut remains true across the web and the press does not work harder than it should.

If you are changing over from another job, check the repeat length, registration marks and material thickness before the press starts up. Our technical team can help with press trial support and magnet checks where needed. For urgent remakes, we can prioritise production and dispatch coordination so you can get back onto the line as quickly as possible. That kind of support is especially helpful when the load shedding schedule has already pushed the rest of the shift tight.

Care, servicing and what to send with your order

Good care extends the life of the tooling and keeps cut quality steady. Keep the die clean, store it flat or in its proper sleeve and avoid knocks on the cutting edge. For flexible magnetic dies, check that the magnet face is clean and free of debris before mounting. For cylinders and solid dies, regular inspection helps catch wear before it affects the next batch.

We offer die regrind, cylinder refurb and magnet checks as part of ongoing servicing. If you are ordering a new logistics label die, send us the finished size, repeat length, artwork or sample, stock type, adhesive type and press details. If it is a repeat job, include the old die number or a clear sample from the last run. That saves time and helps us match the previous work more closely.

Questions we get asked

Do logistics label dies need special power or gas connections?

No. No. The die runs mechanically on the press and does not require its own power or gas supply. It is mounted on the correct press system, and any power requirements come from the press or finishing line, not the tooling.

Can you make a die for a non standard logistics label size?

Yes. We make to order and can work from your sample, artwork or finished size. If you have a narrow web or a fixed repeat length, we will factor that into the layout.

What should I send when I ask for a quote?

Send the label size, shape, stock details, press information and whether it is a new job or a repeat. A sample or previous die reference helps us match the cut more accurately.

Send through your die brief.
