Die Services

Alongside supply, we help customers specify, verify and maintain label tooling for smoother production. Our services are practical, production-focused and built around converter needs.

Die Services

Practical die support for day to day production

Die work is not just about making a tool and sending it out. For label printers and converters, the real value is in getting the cut right, keeping repeat orders consistent, and making sure tooling still performs after long runs, heat, dust and handling on the shop floor. That is why our die services cover the full path from first spec through to maintenance and support.

We work from Wadeville, Germiston and support customers in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Pinetown, Cape Town, Bellville and Gqeberha. Orders are handled with production in mind, so the tooling you receive is matched to the job, the press and the material build-up. If you need a one-off item or repeat tooling for an ongoing range, we help you choose the right service rather than over ordering work you do not need.

How to choose the right service

Different problems call for different solutions. A fresh artwork change may only need die design and CAD proofing, while a worn tool on repeat work may need regrind, bearer setting or a full cylinder refurb. If the cut has started drifting, we can check magnet condition, confirm dimensions and advise on press trial support before the job goes back into full production.

  • New label range: Die design and CAD proofing
  • Repeat job on an older tool: Repeat matching and stock advice
  • Poor cut or wear issues: Die regrind, bearer setting and magnet checks
  • Damaged or urgent job: Urgent remakes and packing and dispatch

If you are unsure, send the job details through the enquiry form and we will help you narrow it down. A quick check upfront often saves a failed start-up later on.

Design, proofing and repeat matching

Good tooling starts with accurate information. Our die design and CAD proofing service is used to confirm dimensions, repeat length and practical cutting requirements before manufacturing begins. That matters when the artwork is tight, the substrate is sensitive, or the label has small cut-outs that must line up properly.

For repeat work, we focus on matching existing tooling so reruns stay consistent across print cycles and across sites. If a customer has a previously supplied tool, we use the known specification to keep the next set as close as possible. That helps when a converter is running a regular item for retail, industrial or logistics customers and does not want small changes causing waste.

  • Dimension checking against the job spec
  • Review of cut lines and repeat requirements
  • Advice on whether the existing tool can be matched or should be replaced
  • Support for repeat orders with consistent production records

Maintenance that keeps tooling working longer

Tooling wears with use, especially on busy lines running in humid coastal conditions or through long shifts when load-shedding has already put pressure on the schedule. Our maintenance services are aimed at keeping performance steady rather than waiting for a full failure. That includes cylinder refurb, die regrind, bearer setting and magnet checks, all handled with practical production tolerances in mind.

These services are useful when cut quality starts to soften, when pressure is uneven, or when a job that used to run clean now needs more adjustment on press. We can also advise on whether the tool is still worth maintaining or whether a replacement will save time and waste in the next run. Sometimes a small repair does the job, sometimes it is just better to remake it.

Urgent remakes, dispatch and delivery coordination

When a label order is due and the tool is damaged, speed matters. Our urgent remake service is set up for time-sensitive jobs where production cannot sit waiting. We coordinate packing, dispatch and delivery for customers across South Africa, including the main routes into Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Pinetown, Cape Town, Bellville and Gqeberha.

Because converters often work to tight delivery windows, we keep the handover practical. Dispatch is organised carefully so tooling arrives ready for use, with the right protection in transit. If a replacement is needed quickly, we will work with the available details and keep the process moving rather than adding extra steps.

  • Urgent remake planning
  • Packing and dispatch coordination
  • Delivery routing by area
  • Updates for production planning

Stock advice and press trial support

Some customers keep a limited amount of tooling on hand for frequent repeats, while others prefer to order only when a job is confirmed. Our stock advice helps you decide what is worth keeping ready and what should be made to order. That can be useful for high runners, seasonal labels or products that move through different production schedules across the year.

We also assist with press trial support when a new tool is going onto the machine for the first time. That may include checking fit, confirming cut behaviour and spotting issues before the job goes into full volume. It is a practical way to reduce waste and get the line settled sooner, especially when the crew is dealing with pressure from multiple changeovers in one shift.

Who handles the work behind the service

Our team is structured around production, not just sales. Marius Jacobus van der Merwe oversees the business as Managing Director, with Thandiwe Nkosi leading production, Nirasha Ramdass handling CAD work, Siyanda Letsoalo running the machine shop, Ruhan de Beer supporting technical sales and Anele Mthembu coordinating dispatch. That mix helps us respond properly when a job needs design input, technical checking and fast movement out the door.

Customers contact us through the enquiry form on our contact page, then we work through the details from there. If you need a new die, a check on an existing tool or help keeping repeat work on track, we will steer you to the right service and keep it practical from the first call through to delivery.
