The better the job information, the more accurate the price. If you are comparing options for a short run, repeat order or urgent replacement, send the basics up front so we can check cutting specs, press fit and lead time before we reply.
- Die type needed: solid rotary die, flexible magnetic die, magnetic cylinder or remake work
- Label size, repeat length and web width in millimetres
- Material details such as paper, vinyl, film or laminate
- Press make-up if known, including bearer size and cylinder requirements
- Quantity needed and whether this is a one-off or repeat job
- Any sample, drawing or previous tool reference number
- Delivery area, for example Germiston, Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town or Gqeberha

Once your enquiry comes through, we check the job against the tooling type, the press it will run on and the finish required. For repeat work we look at the previous spec first, then confirm any changes before production starts. That helps avoid wasted steel and saves time on the next run.

Pricing factors for solid dies, flexible dies and cylinders
Every tool is priced according to the work involved. A small remake is not priced the same as a fresh cylinder, and a simple repeat is different from a job that needs design correction or cylinder refurbishment. We keep the pricing practical and itemised so you can see what is included.
Main cost factors usually include the following:
- Tool type and size
- Material and thickness of the cutting stock
- Level of detail in the artwork and cut pattern
- Whether CAD proofing or repeat matching is required
- Urgency of the order, especially for same week turnaround
- Any refurbishment, regrind or adjustment needed on existing tooling
For converters working under load shedding or tight press schedules, we try to give realistic lead times rather than guess. If a job has to slot between live production runs, tell us that from the start so we can plan properly.
When to ask for remake work or cylinder refurbishment
If your label is pulling, cutting off line or leaving uneven edges, it may not need a full replacement. In many cases a remake, regrind or cylinder refurb can get the tool back into useful condition without unnecessary expense. That is often the better call for repeat customers who need steady output and consistent trim quality.
Ask for a quote for remake work if you notice any of the following:
- Edges are dull, chipped or leaving fibres behind
- The cut is shallow on one side and deep on the other
- The magnetic cylinder is marking the material
- The job no longer matches the original spec
- Your production team has had to keep stopping to adjust pressure
We will check whether the issue is in the die, the cylinder or the set-up. Sometimes the quickest fix is a technical adjustment, not a full new tool.

We supply label converters and printers across South Africa, with regular dispatch into Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Pinetown, Cape Town, Bellville and Gqeberha. If you are based in Germiston or the East Rand, collections and local supply can often be arranged around your production times.
For out of town deliveries, please tell us the site address and the best receiving contact if there is one. That helps with packing, labelling and handover, especially where access is controlled or receiving times are limited. We also consider coastal humidity when packing, because tooling must arrive in good condition and ready to use.
