Send Artwork

Send your artwork together with label sizes, repeat details and any press notes so we can review the tooling properly before production. Accurate label sizes and repeat details confirm the right die type, tolerances and delivery plan.

Send Artwork

What to send with your artwork

When you submit artwork for a new job or repeat order, send the latest file together with the finished label size, repeat length and any cut positions that must stay exact. If the label will run on a narrow web press or a higher speed line, tell us that too, because the tooling choice can change with machine speed and substrate movement.

Please include whether you need a rotary solid die, a flexible magnetic die or a magnetic cylinder, and whether the job is for self adhesive stock, wet glue labels or another format. If you are working from a previous sample, send a clear photo or a physical sample where possible, as that helps us compare cuts and check for wear on repeat jobs. If there is a coating, laminate or deep emboss to consider, mention it up front so we do not miss it.

Artwork details that speed up the review

A clean brief saves time and avoids back and forth. We use the information to check tolerances, bearer setting, registration and the likely cutting pressure before we release anything for manufacture.

  • Finished label size in millimetres
  • Repeat length and web direction
  • Number of labels across the web
  • Material type and thickness
  • Any bleed, kiss cut or full cut requirement
  • Existing die number or previous job reference, if available
  • Press name or press model, plus any special setup notes

If you are unsure on one or two items, send what you have and let us fill in the gaps with you. A missing repeat or unclear layout can slow things down, so even rough measurements are better than none.

How to prepare files before sending

Keep the artwork file as tidy as possible and make sure all text is final before you send it through. We do not need the design explained line by line, but we do need the correct finished size and the cut line to match the actual label shape.

  • Use the final approved version only
  • Check that dimensions are readable and in millimetres
  • Convert colours and fonts if the file format requires it
  • Keep cut lines separate from print elements where possible
  • Flag any small copy, reverse type or fine detail that may need extra care

If the job has tight corners, perforations or a tricky lead edge, mention it in the file notes. Small details matter on tooling, and a line that looks fine on screen can behave differently once it hits the press.

What happens after we receive your job

Once your artwork and measurements are in, our team reviews the file and checks the tooling requirements against the press conditions you provided. Nirasha handles CAD proofing, while Ruhan and Thandiwe can check the practical side of the job if there is anything unusual about the stock or the repeat.

For repeat work, we compare the new brief with the previous tooling record, then confirm whether the die can be matched, refurbished or remade. If the job needs urgent turnaround, say so in the first message. That gives Anele a fair chance to manage packing and dispatch with the delivery area in mind, whether you are in Germiston, Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town or Gqeberha.

When a press trial or check is worth asking for

Some labels are straightforward, others need a bit of extra checking before the full run. If you are changing substrate, running a heavier board, or seeing edge lift on an existing job, ask about press trial support or bearer setting guidance before the order is released.

We also recommend flagging jobs where humidity, static or web stretch may affect the cut. In coastal areas like Durban, Pinetown, Bellville and Cape Town, moisture can change how stock behaves, and that can affect a repeat even when the artwork has not changed. A quick note on the press room conditions helps us avoid rework later.

Dispatch, delivery and repeat matching

After approval, dispatch is arranged from Wadeville, Germiston and coordinated for the most practical delivery route. We cover Johannesburg deliveries, Pretoria deliveries, Durban deliveries, Pinetown deliveries, Cape Town deliveries, Bellville deliveries and Gqeberha deliveries, with packing set up to protect tooling during transit.

For repeat matching, please send the old job reference, date if known, and any comments from your press team. That gives us a cleaner starting point when checking die regrind, cylinder refurb or a fresh make. It also helps when a tool has been stored for a while and needs a proper inspection before it goes back onto the line.

Questions we get asked

Can I send artwork if I only have a rough label size?

Yes, send what you have. A rough size is enough for an initial review, and we can confirm the finished measurements and repeat details with you before the tool is made.

What if I do not know whether I need a rotary die or a magnetic die?

Send the artwork, stock details and press information if you have it. We will look at the job and advise which die type suits the application, repeat and press setup.

Do repeat jobs need the full artwork sent again?

It helps if you send the latest file again, even for repeats. A file can change over time, and having the current version lets us match the tooling properly and check for any revisions.
